Custom Decal Artwork Tips: Files, Sizes and Colours

Want a decal of your own logo, business name or design? A little preparation makes your quote faster and your decal sharper. Here is what makes artwork work well in vinyl.

Best file types

• Vector files are ideal: SVG, PDF, AI or EPS. They scale to any size with perfectly clean edges.
• High resolution PNG or JPG files also work, especially with a plain background.
• Screenshots and small images from social media are usually too low in resolution for large sizes.

Keep details bold

Vinyl decals are cut from a sheet, so very thin lines and tiny text become fragile. Think about the size you want and make sure the thinnest parts of the design are still easy to see at that size.

Colours that stand out

On car glass, white vinyl gives the strongest contrast against dark tinted windows. Black suits light painted surfaces, laptops and white walls. Tell us the colour you have in mind in your quote request.

Size and proportion

When you upload artwork on our custom decals page, the size tool reads the shape of your image and keeps the height in proportion to the width you choose. Custom decals can be up to 22 inches wide.

Your rights to the artwork

Only upload artwork you own or have permission to use. We cannot produce designs that use other people's trademarks or copyrighted characters.
