Rearview Mirror Decals: Placement and Safety Tips
A small message on your rearview mirror like I Love You Drive Safe or Just Breathe is a lovely daily reminder. Placed well, it is something you notice when you glance up, never something that gets in the way.
Placement rules of thumb
- Keep the decal on the outer edge of the mirror glass, top or bottom, away from the centre.
- Sit in your normal driving position and check that you can see the full rear window in the mirror.
- Choose a small size. Around 4 x 2 inches suits most rearview mirrors.
- Rules on anything that affects a driver's view vary by province. If in doubt, put the decal on the mirror housing instead of the glass.
Applying to mirror glass
Mirror glass is smooth, so vinyl grips it well. Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol, let it dry, then apply using the hinge method from our application guide. Press from the centre toward the edges so no air gets trapped at the curve.
